University-level assessment includes the measurement of student achievement based on the student learning outcomes that flow from the five DWU General Education foundational pillars: critical and collaborative thinking, effective expression, cultural and global awareness, civic values and engagement, and personal growth and awareness.
Both direct and indirect assessment measures are used to assess student achievement of the university student learning outcomes.
The Senior Exit Survey is administered annually to all baccalaureate and associate graduates. The survey assesses students’ satisfaction with their educational experience at DWU. In addition, data are gathered related to students’ satisfaction with achievement of the five foundational pillars and related learning outcomes.
Senior Exit Survey and the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE)
The National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) is administered every other year to freshmen and senior students who are enrolled in baccalaureate programs at DWU. The NSSE assesses student engagement related to five areas: level of academic challenge, active and collaborative learning, student-faculty interaction, enriching educational experiences, and supportive campus environment.

Basic English Proficiency Exam (BEP)
The Basic English Proficiency Exam (BEP) is administered annually during fall and spring semesters to students who are enrolled in ENG 111 Expository Writing. Dr. Joseph Ditta, professor of English,
