Dakota Wesleyan students have access to several events throughout the year to help them explore their options and opportunities. Here, the details for each are provided, as well as information about who will likely benefit most from attendance. For more information, please contact Malik Stewart.

Community Plunge
Aug. 30, 2012
DWU Sherman Center
6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

The Community Plunge is an annual event that invites on- and off-campus organizations to Dakota Wesleyan to meet new and returning students. Held at the beginning of the school year, this is an excellent opportunity for all students to see what Mitchell has to offer. Local businesses, churches, employers, restaurants and nonprofit organizations gather to welcome students to town for a new academic year. Campus clubs and groups highlight their events and seek out new members (often while handing out candy). This event is free for all area students.

Who should attend?
If you are a student of any year or age, the Community Plunge is definitely a good event for you. This is a fun, festive way to acclimate yourself to the community – and score some free food while you’re at it!

Nursing Opportunities Fair
2012 date pending
DWU Rollins Campus Center

The Nursing Opportunities Fair is a chance for DWU nursing students to learn about opportunities in nursing and meet employers specifically interested in their background and skills. During the morning session, students hear from two separate panels regarding potential careers in the field; the first details prospective jobs as an RN, and the second showcases positions that require further education or training. In the afternoon, students have a chance to meet, network and interview with area educators and employers, who in turn get a chance to recruit some of the most promising future nurses in the region. This event is free for DWU students.

Who should attend?
If you are a nursing student or a DWU student who is interested in nursing, this is a perfect opportunity to explore your options in the field. Please contact your nursing faculty for more information.
