Dakota Indian Foundation
Program:

$1000 per semester

Eligibility:
  • The scholarship program is established for the further educational advancement of aspiring Native American students with priority given to those of Sioux heritage.
  • Scholarships are only offered to Sophomore. Junior and Seniors. You must have 24 credit hours or more-to qualify for the scholarship.
  • Scholarships are open to accredited post-high school training (four year, two year, and Vocational intuitions).
  • Scholarships are for any approved course of study.
  • Dakota Indian Foundation only funds Fall & Spring semesters. Summer semester is not funded!
  • Applicant must be or have been graduated from an accredited high school, have a GED, or have post high school training credit.
  • Student applicant must take 12 or more credit hours per semester. and complete the 12 or more credits hours with a minimum of 2.0 GPA per semester that is funded bv Dakota Indian Foundation.
  • Students are required to complete a scholarship application, submit an official academic college transcript, a copy of your tribal registration, a current photograph of yourself, and a recommendation from your counselor or an advisor, as well as a personal statement.

The Home Security Scholarship
Program:
  • Up to $25,000 per year for 100 first-time freshman or existing college students, renewable up to four years and one additional year for those entering a qualified five-year engineering program.
  • $2,000 one-time awards for an additional 1,000 students.
  • 1,100 scholarships, including 100 renewable scholarships of up to $25,000 per year.
Eligibility: Incoming freshman:
  • Applicant must have a cumulative high school grade point average of at least 2.5 on a 4-point scale
  • Taken either the ACT or SAT test and must be a high school or home school senior graduating or earning a GED between January 1, 2013 and July 31, 2013
  • Enroll for fall 2013 as a freshman at a two-year or four-year college or university.

  • Applicant must have a cumulative college grade point average of at least 2.5 on a 4-point scale,

  • This scholarship is open to students who will be entering their junior year in the fall of 2012.

Motivating Undergraduates in Science and Technology
Program:

Up to $10,000

Eligibility:
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must be enrolled full-time at an accredited university in the U.S. or U.S. Territory
  • Must be a sophomore or junior.
  • Must have earned and must maintain a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
  • Must be pursuing a degree in science, technology, engineering or mathematics.

Nursing Education Scholarship
Program:

$1,000 bi-annual scholarship to be awarded to applicant chosen; shall benefit any High School Senior currently applying for college, nursing school or medical vocational or technical training school or current college undergraduate in a premedical, nursing, or medical technician program.

Eligibility:
  • Applicant shall be at least 17 years of age and be enrolled in and attending full-time a public, private or home school and be in their final year, previous to attending college or an institution of advanced or higher learning, of schooling at stated institution.
  • Applicant shall be at least 17 years of age and be accepted and attending full-time an accredited University, college, secondary training, technical institution or vocational institution, either private or public.
  • Applicant must have a minimum of 3.0 GPA based on the previous year's academic performance.
  • Applicant must be applying to or currently attending a premedical, nursing, nursing assistant or medical technical program at an accredited university or technical college, private or public.
How to Apply: Applicant shall submit an essay of at least 500 words but not more than 1000 words that explains what they hope to accomplish in the medical field and how they will impact the lives of others with the education and knowledge they acquire while in medical training. Essay will also include the student's opinion of why they feel they should be selected to receive the scholarship funds. Panzirer Family Public Safety Scholarship
Program:

SD Board of Nursing- Nursing Education Asst. Loan Program
Program:
  • Up to $25,000 per year for 100 first-time freshman or existing college students, renewable up to four years and one additional year for those entering a qualified five-year engineering program.
  • $2,000 one-time awards for an additional 1,000 students.
  • 1,100 scholarships, including 100 renewable scholarships of up to $25,000 per year.
  • $1000 Loan/Grant
Eligibility:

RN
Students in Registered Nursing and Advanced Practice Nursing programs must submit the Loan Application, Form A (Student Status) and Form B (Financial Aid Inquiry) directly to the Board. To be considered for an award the applicant must provide a complete Application, Form A and Form B as a package. Plan ahead. All loan packages must be postmarked not later than May 31st to be considered for an award in the upcoming school year. Awardees will be selected during the July Board of Nursing meeting. All applicants will be notified of selection. Loan payments will be made at the start of the fall and spring semesters.


LPN
Students in Licensed Practical Nursing programs must submit the Loan Application, Form A (Student Status) and Form B (Financial Aid Inquiry) directly to the Board. To be considered for an award the applicant must provide a complete Application, Form A and Form B as a package. Plan ahead. All loan packages must be postmarked not later than September 30th to be considered for an award in the spring semester.

SD Telecommunication Association
Program:

$1,000 scholarship

Eligibility:
  • The SDTA Memorial Scholarships will be awarded to students who have completed at least two semesters of a multi-year program at any of South Dakota’s accredited technical schools or two semesters at any other accredited post-secondary higher education institution in South Dakota.
  • Applicants that attend a post-secondary higher education institution must be majoring in a program with technical skills or a field of study that is particularly useful for work in the telecommunications industry.
  • The applicant must be a member/customer or have parents that are member/customers of an SDTA member company.

Program:

Science, Mathematics & Research for Transformation

Eligibility:
  • a U.S. citizen at time of application,
  • 18 years of age or older as of August 1, 2012,
  • able to participate in summer internships at DoD laboratories,
  • willing to accept post-graduate employment with the DoD,
  • a student in good standing with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (as calculated by the SMART application) and,

Program:

$2,500 Scholarship

Eligibility:
  • Applicants for this award must live in or maintain residency in Lincoln or Minnehaha County of South Dakota — even though they may attend a school outside the area — or they must attend school in one of these two counties.
  • Applicants must also attend a school accredited by the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement.
  • Applicants must be pursuing a degree in business and be able to demonstrate an understanding of the role of business in American society. A motivation and ability to succeed, academic excellence, and community involvement are also criteria for this award.
