The beauty behind Dakota Wesleyan’s Master of Business Administration in strategic leadership degree is its practicality.

DWU has had a strong interdisciplinary entrepreneurship program, and with this new program will we will serve the region in small and medium-sized business. This MBA program is not designed to feed young people into Fortune 500 companies, but rather, to serve as a significant alternative, preparing individuals to be successful in the smaller, non-publicly traded businesses present in our region. This market accounts for 80 percent of the regional business opportunities available for our students.

The MBA in strategic leadership degree at DWU:

  • Choose from a full-time, one-year program or a part-time, two-year program. Begin the program in August or January.
  • The degree is completed online. Almost all of the initial course offerings are taught by full-time DWU business faculty members, each with doctoral degrees and many years of experience working in their principal teaching areas. If you need to contact a professor you can do so right here on campus.
  • Networking – You will stay with the same cohort of students allowing you to make contacts and network.

Program requirements and curriculum
The DWU MBA will officially begin taking students August 2013 and the coursework will be accessible in the 2013-14 Course Catalog this spring.

  • Prospective MBA students are required to have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher in their undergraduate program. If the student does not have a 3.0 undergrad GPA, but has at least a 2.8 GPA, the other manner in which to meet this requirement is to take one of two qualifying standardized exams, meeting a minimum score requirement. For the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT); the minimum score is 450. For the Graduate Record Examination (GRE); the minimum score is 300 combined quantitative and verbal. Achieving either of these scores will compensate for an undergraduate GPA in the 2.80 to 2.99 range. The exams must be taken within the past 5 years and scores be received directly from the testing service.
  • The curriculum consists of 12 courses with each containing three modules for each course.  This format will allow some flexibility in the future for the courses to address the most current topics or issues needed for preparing students to be future leaders.
  • Although the program will confer the master’s degree in business, the program is not just for business students.  It is also for students who desire to be a leader in their chosen field.  So whether you are a scientist, athlete, teacher, business person, minister, etc., this program will benefit you.
  • Potential students can do either the one-year track (full time) or the two-year (part time), in a cohort system. Courses will run two courses twice a week for full-time students and one course twice a week for part-time students.
