Honors Program HOMEPAGE

The honors program provides opportunities for interaction among the students each semester. Students attend concerts, plays and special events together on and off campus.  They may also attend luncheons at which faculty or invited guests speak on topics of interest, or they may just get together to study or play games.

Some past activities have included:

Dr. Vince Redder, dean of the College of Arts and Humanities, gave a talk on Shakespeare's witches and ghosts while honors students and their guests ate medieval hors d'oeuvres.

“Damn Yankees!”
Free all-you-can-eat ballpark food, including hot dogs and ice cream, was provided for lunch. Students were asked to bring a friend. Dr. Clint Desmond, DWU director of music, gave a talk on Faust, including examples from the opera, and how the storyline was found in “Damn Yankees!”

“One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest”
Participants dined on hospital food (soup and Jell-O), and Dr. Anne Kelley, chair of the psychology department, talked about lobotomies, including a vague how-to.
