DWU spring music concert to feature band, bells and Highlanders

MITCHELL – Dakota Wesleyan University will perform one of two spring concerts next week featuring the Wesleyan University/Community Band, Wesleyan Bells and the Highlanders.

The concert is at 7 p.m., Thursday, April 12, at the Sherman Center on campus and is free and open to the public.

The Wesleyan University/Community Band will perform “Devil’s Dance,” “Shenandoah,” and “Arabian Dances.” The Highlanders will pull from their spring tour repertoire and sing “Elijah Rock,” “In the Still of the Night,” “Salmo 150,” “David’s Lamentation,” and several others. This will be the first concert to feature the Wesleyan Bells, which will perform “America,” “Easter Meditation,” “A Festive Prelude,” and others.

The next DWU vocal concert will be the “All American Concert” at 4 p.m., Sunday, April 22, at the First United Methodist Church. The Wesleyan Choir and University Choral Union will join to perform Leonard Berstein’s “Chichester Psalms” and Aaron Copland’s “Old American Songs.” This concert will be free and open to the public.
