DWU Future Teachers to host Dr. Seuss Carnival
MITCHELL – The Dakota Wesleyan University Future Teachers Organization will host the 14th annual Dr. Seuss Carnival from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 24, in the L.B. Williams Elementary gymnasium.
Children from preschool through fifth grade are welcome to participate in this fun event. There will be cupcakes available to all the readers. Children can read or listen to books to earn tickets which allow them to play games and win prizes, and each child who participates in the festivities will receive a free book. Adults must accompany their children to the carnival.
“The carnival is important because it gives children the opportunity to be introduced to the Dr. Seuss series, as well as promotes reading and education in schools,” said FTO president, Jasmin Vant, of Canton. “FTO strives to put on a great carnival each year and we hope that the children and the students will leave having gained knowledge and an understanding of the importance of reading at home and in the classroom.”
This event provides not only a learning experience for the DWU education students, but a service to the community, as well. For more information, contact FTO advisers Gloria Leonard, 995-2626, or Rene Pruitt, 995-2634.
