MITCHELL — Dakota Wesleyan University invites the community to campus next week for a fall music concert with the DWU Wesleyan Bells, University/Community Band and Highlanders.
The concert will be at 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 16, in the Sherman Center. The performances are free and open to the public.
The Highlanders will be performing “Fire, Fire,” by Thomas Morley; “Can’t Buy Me Love,” arranged by Keith Abs; “Bohemian Rhapsody,” arranged by Deke Sharon; “If Ye Love Me,” by Thomas Tallis; and “Soon Ah Will Be Done,” by William Dawson.
The Wesleyan Bells will perform five pieces during the concert, including: “Perseverance,” by Tammy Waldrop; “Festive Praise,” by Susan Geschke; “A Joyful Psalm,” by Michael Helman; “My Favorite Things,” arranged by Douglas E. Wagner; and “Old MacDonald,” arranged by Kevin McChesney.
The band has three pieces selected for the evening: “An American Celebration,” by Larry Neeck; “Highland Legend,” arranged by Joseph F. Pekas, of Mitchell; and “Banda Sucre,” by G. Orsomando.
The next DWU music concerts will be in December. Last year’s Christmas concert was so popular that the music department decided to put on the concert twice this year. The Wesleyan Choir, Highlanders, Wesleyan Bells, University/Community Band, Mitchell Area Children’s Choir and Huron Symphony will join forces at 7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 1, and 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 2, in the Sherman Center. Tickets will go on sale soon.
