DWU crowns beanie king, queen

Skylar Forgey, of Dallas, was named beanie queen, and Jade Miller, of Mitchell, was named beanie king Monday night for the 2012 Dakota Wesleyan homecoming festivities.

MITCHELL — Blue & White Days would not be complete without its traditional freshman beanie king and queen.

Freshmen Skylar Forgey, of Dallas, was named beanie queen, and Jade Miller, of Mitchell, was named beanie king Monday night for the 2012 Dakota Wesleyan homecoming festivities.

Traditionally the beanie king and queen wear their beanies to all homecoming events, including the 10:30 a.m. Blue & White Days parade on Saturday, Oct. 6. The homecoming football game will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Joe Quintal Field.  DWU will play Dordt College.

Other candidates for king were: Brady Bonte, Garretson; Adam Fink, Armour; Calvin Hunhoff, Bertrand, Neb.; and Sawyer Gibson, Garretson. Beanie queen candidates were: Allison Blow, Pierre; Hannah Hammer, Dell Rapids; Karlee Huber, Rapid City; and Maggie Stehly, Sioux Falls.
