DWU to host Mitchell Area Youth Night with Robbie Seay Band
MITCHELL — Music with influence will come to Dakota Wesleyan this month.
DWU will host its sixth Mitchell Area Youth Night this month with the Robbie Seay Band at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 17, in the Sherman Center. The band will also perform during regular campus worship at 11 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 18, in the Sherman Center. The band is co-sponsored with Compassion International and the shows are free and open to the public.
The Robbie Seay Band hails from Houston, Texas, and its Ecclesia Church, which is pastored by Robbie’s brother. The band is comprised of Seay, vocals and songwriting; Dan Hamilton, lead guitar; and Ryan Owens, bass.
Their alternative style is described as edgy and much of their music is influenced by not just their faith but also the world around them. Their song, “Go Outside,” was inspired by the work of the Ecclesia Church in Africa.
“I hope my music – and life – somehow may serve to encourage other believers to be proactive in their faith,” states Seay on his website. “For it is only as we bless others and offer grace that faith goes beyond words, and truly comes alive.”
Following both events, Compassion International will provide information on an opportunity to sponsor a child in a third-world country.
