Mitchell Area Children’s Choir looking for voices

MITCHELL — The Mitchell Area Children’s Choir has begun its second year but is still open for registration.

This choir is based in Mitchell but includes singers from surrounding communities, grades three through eight, and will perform with the Dakota Wesleyan University choirs at their concerts.

“We had so much fun last year and I’m really looking forward to this year’s concerts,” said Erin Desmond, children’s choir director and DWU accompanist. “We are actually going to open this Thursday’s rehearsal to all singers in grades three through eight to come listen, sing along and see what it’s all about.”

The children’s choir meets Thursdays at 7 p.m. in the music room of Smith Hall on DWU’s campus. For more information, contact Desmond at 219-309-1404, or via email at erdesmon@dwu.edu. Cost to participate is $225 a year, which can be paid in full or on a payment plan and includes a polo shirt, music, approximately 30 group music lessons, and two free tickets to the holiday concert. There is a 10 percent discount for families with more than one student enrolled in the choir.
