DWU students to put on fundraiser for CMN
MITCHELL — Dakota Wesleyan University students are spearheading a dance marathon fundraiser next week for the Children’s Miracle Network, and are looking for some willing participants to get their groove on for a good cause.
The DWU Children’s Miracle Network Tigerthon will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 9, in the Rollins Campus Center. The Tigerthon is a dance marathon that will last for 8 hours and includes games, entertainment and stories from children who were impacted by CMN. To participate, or learn more, visit www.dwutigerthon.weebly.com; 100 percent of the proceeds go to the Sanford Castle of Care in Sioux Falls. Dancers can sign up as clubs, groups or individuals. People may also donate directly to the cause without registering.
“Dance marathons have been an integral part of many college experiences over the last couple decades, working in conjunction with the Children’s Miracle Network,” said Nathan Hofer, student activities director, who also participated in a dance marathon when he was in college. “They are the largest student-led philanthropy in the U.S. and we felt that DWU, with its pillars of service and leadership, as well as with the supportive nature of the Mitchell community, was the perfect place for another dance marathon to start.”
