Before chapel services were held in the campus center, the DWU community worshipped in the theatre. The three stained glass windows on the south wall of the theatre are a beautiful reminder of this bygone era.
The theatre is named after Darryl Patten, Class of 1960, a longtime associate professor of communication and theatre, and Mary Wing, a former associate professor from the same department who taught for more than 16 years. She was also Patten’s teacher. These servants to DWU died only nine days apart and in combined service devoted more than 36 years to the university. The Patten-Wing Theatre is home to DWU’s student theatre department and its productions.
Check out the communications and theatre department to learn more about how you can become involved.
